Throughout the week, you are given various tasks to fulfill, in order to get candy and go back home. But it's going to be a rough ride, considering that you need 100,000 candy to get back there. But don't worry, with the new candy count increase, things should be a lot easier, right? What could possibly go wrong?

Put Them Back Together - Thursday

[Oh boy... a bunch of broken skeletons. Well, that's fine. She's seen enough dead humans to figure this out-- probably.

Let's just take it one at a time.]

[Oh, don't mind Zack. He's just passing by, minding his own business. He'll just glance down at the woman reassembling skeletons and continue on his merry...]

[... Wait a minute, those bones look familiar. Didn't he and Kaine smash them to bits last week?]

... Do you see any red bones in there?

[breakingthrough]

Red...?

[Edna puts turns away from the ones she was working on and back to the sizeable pile.]

I think I saw something like that over there.

[Whether or not she really did is a mystery. Maybe she's just sending him on a wild goose chase. Or maybe there really is something there.]

Are you sure?

[He is not going on a possible goose chase. Nice try.]

It was about this big, right?

[She vaguely gestures to the approximate length of what could be either an arm or a leg bone.]

[zackthekiller]

[He quickly shrugs.]

I dunno! All I know is that it was red!

Well if you help me put these together, it would be a lot easier to find it.

[Does he WANT to help her with these?]

You want to find it right? Besides. It's not like you wouldn't get the reward for the work if you signed up. If you haven't noticed, there's a good reason for us to get all the candy we can.

[He's already done two of those things, and while he's not the best at math he's pretty sure he's in the green right now.]

You think I wasn't paying attention on Monday?

Nope. I pegged you for the type who would understand "more is better".

[She grins.]

Well, sorry if I've been busting my ass all week. Sorry it's been fucking rough on anyone!

[Like Zack, she was also there to witness (and participate in) the destruction of the skeletons last week. It had been quite hectic then, but it seems quieter now that she returns to the street.

She saw the task; she knows what Edna is doing when she sees her. Step for step, position for position, it's almost a recreation of her first meeting with Kaine. Acutely aware of the repetition, she places her hand thoughtfully to her chin, standing just off to Edna's side.]

The person who spent so much time destroying them is going to be disappointed.

They're really having a grand time putting us through pointless exercises. I'm sure someone's having a great laugh at our expense.

[From the beginning she had trouble believing in this whole "restoration" project. But the longer things went, the more it became abundantly clear that what they were doing was having no impact on the town whatsoever, nor did they seem to be giving them tasks with the intention of making things better.

Yes, she's irritated, and she absolutely sounds it. Nonetheless, here she is, forced to play a stupid game to get her powers back and get back home alive.]

[For a moment, One doesn't give Edna's anger a response. She shares the same frustration. There are still things that have to be done before she dies.]

If our conversations with "M" are anything to go by, laughing is about all she's interested in doing.

[Contempt colors her voice, and the cold respect she might give anyone else is, understandably, absent. She gestures with her forearm.] There were three that fell together there. I know because I struck them.

[Right. They're probably all feeling different levels and variations of the same things right about now. A lot of unpleasant things were thrown at them suddenly and to top it all off, there was stuff like this to add insult to injury; like salt in the wound.]

I wouldn't want to be here if our merry little group finds her.

[At the very least, she grateful for the information. The quicker she can get this done and over with, the better.]

Oh, so you were one of the ones who helped take them apart.

I wonder if her death will amuse her as much as ours will.

[She's already resigned herself to that reality: M must be killed if they want to survive. That's the only way One can see that will actually disrupt her hold on the town.]

I was. I wanted to test the limitations of this "magical girl" form. It was Kaine who took his aggression out on most of them.

[There are some people that cannot be saved. Edna is very acutely aware of that. Someone who would set up a game like this...]

People filled with that much malevolence are always driven by something. Who knows whether or not she's actually considered her own life in the scheme of things.

[That explains why there are so many.]

They must be decent, if the two of you took down so many.

[She hasn't tested it herself. It didn't sound like anything special to her at the time, so she really hadn't had any interest. With her powers, she would have been able to do that even without their stupid transformation.]

[Likely M doesn't even think something like that could happen to her. Justice has a way of finding people like that.]

I'm not sure all of these were defeated then, [One admits.] I believe what we've been given is much weaker than what many of us had taken away.
