It's been a ride. One where they all messed up and two innocent people died in the end. Of course, nobody knows who the killer is, with the exception of Fav and his master. Nevertheless, things seem to feel a lot more solemn and melancholy this week, and Fav's announcement does not help, either.

For what reason in particular? That we now know that the warning about the impurity was in fact legitimate?

[He can think of other reasons why it saves him some trouble, but...they're more personal reasons.]

In this game, any person down who isn't yourself is a victory. It sounds cruel, but by M's rules, whoever kills themselves is nobody that one of us needs to kill.

I don't feel like killing anyone, but at the same time, I don't feel like dying either. It's convenient that way.

[ She shrugs with a small smile. ]

I wonder if Renji's body shows any hints telling how the impurity killed him.

[Szayel shakes his head, smiling as well. Though it's really more of that smug smirk he tends to sport.]

You don't have to say, "it sounds cruel" to me. I completely agree. I am pleasantly surprised that you brought up that point instead.

I am curious about that myself, though I wonder if Fav will even allow us to perform an examination.

It wouldn't hurt to check if his body is still where the picture has shown him... Bodies disappear fast around here, but we've been able to glimpse at our last dead.

[ She's not eager to go poke another corpse, but it sounds more than a bit useful to have further hints on the structure of this place. As of now, they're at the whim of what they can't understand - Miach will take any chance to turn that around a little. ]

[Miach has a good point. There's no harm in trying, at least. Well, this could all be a moot point of Fav has been listening in to their conversation, but hey.]

Shall we depart now, then? I am not opposed to seeing if Fav has not disposed of him yet, but it would be wise not to delay. As you said, the bodies seem to be removed rather quickly.

[ While they are walking out of the Inn but still in earshot of Fav, she adds: ]

In the end, learning about and disposing of the impurity is just part of our duty as Magical Girls and Boys in this town, too, right?

[As they go along, Szayel can't help but chuckle at the additional comment.]

You're actually still thinking of the farce that Fav presented at the beginning of our little exercise?

Who knows, maybe Fav is. M seemed to imply he's an artificial intelligence that sometimes gets things wrong, so maybe alluding to his seeming priorities can do us some good.

[ She shrugs. ]

If not, nothing lost but a bit of breath.

[He'll at least nod along to that reasoning.]

That is true. Though honestly, I am more convinced that he was absolutely aware of what was to come in the following weeks. He wasn't very subtle about the underlying insidiousness when I spoke to him on that first day.

[It's something that he's mentioned to Miach in the past. There was always something a little...off, even in the first week.]

How much sentience would you attribute to him? As an AI he seems very advanced in the way he handles interaction, but I do wonder how extensive his database is. Though there is nothing to say M might not be feeding him info or taking over for him at any time.

[ ... if only there was a way to try and hack into Fav, now that would be fun. Computers are always unreliable.... ]
