16 REMAIN...?

It's been a ride. One where they all messed up and two innocent people died in the end. Of course, nobody knows who the killer is, with the exception of Fav and his master. Nevertheless, things seem to feel a lot more solemn and melancholy this week, and Fav's announcement does not help, either.

"Come downstairs. I have something to show you all, pon."

[On the floor of that specific cell lies a key. The key is labeled 24.]

[Well that's relatively harmless. Deceptively harmless, potentially.

Is there an obvious source for the glowing within the cell (other than the key I'm assuming) and is the key within arm's reach or does she have to enter the cell to get it?]

[It's right in the center of the cell. You're going to have to grab it.

And yes, it's just the key that's glowing. That's it.]

[Alrighty then she's going to take an excessive amount of care to make sure the jail cell isn't going to close on her while she's inside because what is paranoia, grab the key and run out of that room before something bad can happen.

Before she leaves the police station completely though and heads for Sakura Inn, she'll give the other door a quick try to see if that one will open or not. Can she peek inside?]

[She can! It seems to be an office. In fact, it's the chief's office.]

[Well then, she'll push the door open all the way and see if there's anything of interest in the office. Anything on the desks o the walls? Any cabinets to be nosy about?]

[Nothing on the desks or walls. But in the cabinets is a list of profiles none of them familiar and old execution notes of the same sort.]

[Okay, so a whole bunch of unrecognizable dead people and how they were killed. If there's nothing of note in the chief's desk, then she'll leave the police station as quickly as possible b/c wow that is an uncomfortable atmosphere to be in.

If she tries the key on room 24 in the Sakura Inn, does that work?]

[She's good to go.

The lock clicks. Go ahead and open the door.]

[Open sesame! What's going on with room 24?]

[The room behind the locked door is sparsely decorated. A gameboy sits on the nightstand beside some crystal shards. On the far wall is a poster of the sea next to the ajar closet door.

[Yes, please! She'll enter and check out the nightstand first. What's going on with this gameboy? Is there a cartridge in there, can she tun the thing on? And is there anything more specific to note about those crystal shards? What size are they, how many, ae they cut in any particular shape etc.]

[The sky blue gamegirl advance has a cartridge inside alright. Gala Omega. It turns on with lovely little 8-bit music and graphics.

Now the shards, the moment she picks them up there's a grinding of metal gears engaging somewhere in the ceiling.

There are six gold colored crystal shards in all, cut into diamond shapes. The edges are smooth, slightly rounded. They could fit in her palm.

Anyway, back to that troubling problem of the gears. Two view-screens slide down from the ceiling and the bed retreats into the wall. Trial podiums rise from the floor, sixteen in all.

The main screen turns on, a series spaces and a few letters in the corner.

Square multi-colored letters slide across.

T ....O....N...

A small laser pointer drops from the ceiling by her feet.

>What to do?]

[THIS IS NOT AS EXPECTED.

Dahlia will stop touching everything immediately b/c clearly she didn't touch anything she wasn't supposed to in the first place, how dare you question this!! - and freeze as the whole thing just sets up.

When she's not quite as startled in a couple of moments, she'll pick the laser pointer up and complete the word "NOTE BOOK" on the screen and wait.]

[A click resounds, from just below her. A panel in the floor has slipped slightly to the side.

>Check?]

[hawthorned]

[....Check!! Tell me about the doom panel, please.]

[It takes a little tugging to get it to move but the hole under it is pitch dark. It's a square space, and now that the light has shown on it, she can clearly see at the bottom is a newspaper wrapped parcel.]

[hawthorned]

[Cue carefully reaching into the hole to grab it. What's inside the parcel?]

[What else? A black notebook. It's battered with some scratches on the cover but in pretty good shape.

>Open it?]

[Yes! Opening the death note reveals....??]

[Upon opening it, the first entry reads as the following.

There has to be another way. I have to find it! No. I will! I can't believe that the only way to end it all is despair.

I don't know what to believe. Was I really...? No. I can't think about that. Not right now.

[What a lovely story this is going to be, full of sunshine and roses! Yes, let's keep reading please!]

[The next entry has dried blood stains.

-The more I talk to [The page is illegible here] the more I have questions. How did this all get started? If I'm to stop it...there has to be more than one way.

[The blood makes it impossible to the next section.]

I stopped a fight today but I don't think I can stop them all. I'm running out of time.

[So this author didn't even have the courtesy to bleed all over something that wasn't potentially useful? Rude. There is clearly an overabundance of sympathy here, but less ironically patience. She'll keep reading along as far as she can!]

[There is one more entry, completely clear and easy to read.

...it wasn't a lie. None of it was lies. I really was... I can deal with that later. This is more important.

I think I've been found out. No one will look me in the eye anymore. That's fine, I can't either. I have to keep going. I almost found another way to shut down the game.

One that...can save what's left. If I can do this. At least this will all end.

There are no further entries, but the bottom half of the notebook pages are all warped and bloody even the back of the notebook.]
