It's been a ride. One where they all messed up and two innocent people died in the end. Of course, nobody knows who the killer is, with the exception of Fav and his master. Nevertheless, things seem to feel a lot more solemn and melancholy this week, and Fav's announcement does not help, either.

Why the hell would I do that?

[He looks over the radio. Yep, no batteries. He doesn't notice anything else wrong with it unless it sticks out like a sore thumb.]

I dunno.

[She's not sure exactly HOW smash-happy you are.]

Do you think if we find batteries that it'll work?

Maybe? Or we could just use it to play cds or something.

[This thing has a slot for cds, right?]

That'd be nice. If another trial happens, then we can play something over the rude music.

[she smiles.]

Maybe there's batteries in the room somewhere. I went straight to the closet, so I didn't really look around, so maybe we'll find some?

[So anything in the room besides the ringing phone Edna's taking care of?]

[The radio doesn't have a slot for CDs, sorry. It's just an old portable FM radio from the stone ages.

As far as the rest of the room goes, there's still that T-shirt and the book, unless you guys want to give the bed a once over or start checking the walls for secret passages, not that you'll find any.]

... I don't see any cd slots. Damn.

[He puts the radio on the floor and looks over at the shirt first. He doesn't have to read it.]

[It's a fairly cool tank top, but that's all it is.]

[He's keeping this shirt.]

[Looks like Edna's sticking her hand under the bed already, so Recette goes over to the Book. She'll read whatever is inside outloud for Zack.]

[The book appears to be a storybook. The cover's fairly worn, as are the pages. The subject matter's a little strange though.

Once upon a time, some people lived in a village and a big scary monster lived outside and ate anyone who tried to enter or leave. Until one day, a kind priestess came to help.

Yeah... A fucked up story book.

[The priestess goes and talks to the monster, trying to convince it killing is wrong, and the monster responds by killing her.

Well then.

Seems there's still some pages left.]

Pffft.

[Zack appreciates the dark humor.]

And then the people learned you can't reason with a beast and shot the fucker. The end.

[Thanks for the sarcasm, Zack. Someone tell him there's more.]

Oh no... that's so sad!

[Recette makes a distressed noise in the back of her throat before continuing to read.]

[This is like medieval times Zack, nobody here has guns.

ANYWAYS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN APPRECIATE A STORY

Everyone in the village was really sad and cried a whole bunch and then...a miracle happened. The priestess came back to life. She went back to the monster's lair, planning on slaying the beast.

The monster laughed and laughed, listing all the things that couldn't kill it, only casting a single spell-

...the next page is missing. It appears to have been torn out of the book.

The last page is here though, it simply reads

AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER

[the ending seems... abrupt. Either way, she's gonna keep this book.]

[Well, that was a weird story. It kind of reminded him of someone he knows. As a magical girl. Ick.]

I liked my ending better.

Well.... your ending is kinda similar to what happens, but with no coming back to life involved. So... there's not too much of a difference.

[Edna finally crawls back out from under the bed-- SURE SEEMS LIKE SHE WAS GONE FOR A FEW MINUTES when it should have only been a few seconds. But she made it. And she has something clutched tightly in her hand.

Looks like some kind of wand.]

...everyone alright out here?

[Because she feels like she was going ten times longer than she should and nothing else haunted better have been happening during that time.]

We read this book and well...

[She'll hand it to you. it's not that long a read.]

It's not the best ending, huh? Some pages are missing, so I'm not sure if that's even the end.

Well, at least I gave it an actual ending instead of ripping out one of the pages!
