☆ WEEK THREE ( TRIAL - DAY TWO )

Trial Day #2
Sunday, Week 3

Victim

Suspects

At around the same time as yesterday - 8 in the morning - all characters will, once again, be brought into the same magical world as the day prior. As always, breakfast and lunch will be served to anybody who asks for it, and any requests from the day prior will be held. "Today is the last day to discuss the murder of Chiaki Nanami, also known as 8bit Wonder, pon! Please make sure to submit your votes in before the time limit if you do not want to get removed from the game!" Access to voting on their magical phones is now available, along with a warning for characters to vote, as is closes at 10 PM.

Naturally, the same song plays today as well. Thanks, Fav.

[ This case is a clusterfuck and Miach doesn't particularly care about Nanami or who killed her, but she's went and picked glass shards out of gore for this, so might as well see it through. ]

The events of Thursday night, as told by the witnesses slash suspects go as follows: Seraphina called Nanami over to the dollhouse to confirm whether or not a specific doll is related to her hostage. Zack saw Nanami walking in and based on the hair color, mistook her for Szayelaporro, whom he believes to be Eliza's killer. He attacked her from behind with the scythe and in the rush of the moment also attacked Seraphina. In the process of this, several dolls got slashed, which can be confirmed by anyone who has been at the crime scene. After thinking the deed done, Zack left the dollhouse.

Then someone else entered and healed Nanami and Seraphina. The only object known to us that has this healing ability is Tamamo's mirror. This very same mirror was then used to bash Nanami's head in, killing her. Seraphina insists it was Tamamo. Tamamo meanwhile claims to have lost the mirror on Wednesday.

What is left for us to determine now is whether or not Zack and Seraphina are both saying the truth and if so, who used the mirror - both to heal and to kill.

Does anybody have something to add to this?

I do, actually. If I'm remembering correctly, someone mentioned rope, correct? Was any rope of any kind found anywhere?

[ Because that's raising a few question marks on her end. ]

There was no rope at the crime scene. I looked over the entire area very carefully - if Nanami was bound at any point in time, the rope was removed later.

Wouldn't there have been rope marks if she was bound, in any case? I mean, if you're going to tie someone up, you should at least do it right.

[OOC: I've noted this both on Discord and Plurk, but I'll note it here as well -- the rope is not viable evidence in this particular case.]

I agree that there was no rope at the crime scene. However, if there was any, it was likely removed from the area as the killer had also threw the mirror into the river to cover their tracks.

However, there are some contradictions in Zack's and Seraphina's accounts that need to be addressed, and I would suggest to any who choose to question them, to do so when they are separated from one another. As Miss Zange already mentioned - Zack claims Miss Nanami was bound up. Miss Seraphina denies this, stating that the dollhouse was too dark at the time for him to know for certain. Zack also agreed that the room was dark when he attacked them.

However, this calls into question why the dollhouse was dark in the first place. Given that Miss Seraphina had invited Miss Nanami to that location to examine a specific doll closely, one would naturally assume that the lights should have been on at the time. Of course, if that wasn't the intention at all... that would certainly clarify that mystery.

Okay, maybe I remembered the rope thing wrong... I'm not sure.

[Zack is not that smart. He might have gotten a detail confused.]

But if there was a light switch, why the hell didn't Seraphina use it? It would have saved us all a lot of trouble if I could clearly see that was Nanami in there and not Syzael.

[We might be down one corpse toucher and one psycho killer, but shit happens.]

Even if you did misremember the detail about the rope, that still doesn't explain why the lights were off.

[....]

But that is the question we have to answer. Of course, I can only offer a guess, but it seems in that situation the most logical reason for the lights to be off would be to try and conceal something from Miss Nanami.

I think it looks a lot like Seraphina tried to ambush Nanami only to be interrupted by Zack. Nanami seems--seemed--to be really interested in solving mysteries, so pretending to have found a clue would be a good way to lure her out. It would explain why the dollhouse was dark, and maybe also why Zack said Nanami was tied up.

However, for Seraphina to be the final culprit, she would have to have Tamamo's mirror--presumably just to implicate Tamamo, because she wouldn't know anyone would end up needing healing--know how to use it, be in a condition to use it after Zack's attack, and have time to get the rope and the mirror away from the scene after the attack and get back in time to fake unconsciousness when the body was found. So it's not the simplest solution.

It seems like a rather convoluted thing to do -- to heal then kill someone. Perhaps Nanami was their target after all.

I wonder if that is because of the knowledge she gained. It was mentioned that she is an avid player of video games - and in our situation, video games can be quite revealing.

Recette posted on the network that someone appears to have been living in the arcade. That must have been Nanami. Anyone who saw her there and has a secret to keep might have figured she is the most convenient target.

If they were going to act on this motive, best let the person die who might have been able to present a good case for their guilt based on their lifestory.

It is rather convoluted, I agree. I was wondering, though... about your room. Do you always keep it so clean?

I've always been like that, someone who keeps things clean. For a lot of reasons.

I'm kind of a head of a household back home. When Cassius was away, I took care of his daughter and she's not the cleanest person ever. However, since her dad was rarely around, I took care of her and the house. She's a messy person, so I just learned to clean up after her as well.

I suppose I should add she and I are the same age. And if you ask, yes that girl is that someone important to me who is in the dollhouse.

... Wait a second, wasn't Nanami-chan also stabbed in the chest? Did that happen first, and then she was hit in the face with the mirror? ... Do we even know if she was still alive when they used the mirror like that?

[because if so then Jesus dude what was the point of doing that]

ignore my first comment, important clarifications were made for this one

[personal profile] imitationsoul 2017-04-09 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The chest stab has to have come first because it's completely gone now.

It is peculiar that it's listed as a cause of death when it was healed though. Maybe it wasn't healed all the way through to her insides?
crossingout: (pic#11238639)

[personal profile] crossingout 2017-04-09 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
What about this, then: Chiaki-chan was actually killed twice. The autopsy counts the stab to the chest as the first kill before she was brought back and killed again.
ladiesfirst: (god mom no stop shut up)

[personal profile] ladiesfirst 2017-04-09 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
But then... If that's the case, would we have to vote for two people since she was killed twice somehow?

[personal profile] yourdreamismydream 2017-04-09 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
So the stab wound that was originally inflicted was healed, but... What would the point of that even be? Was the person who healed Nanami someone different entirely from the person who killed her?
shining_finger: (pic#11129412)

[personal profile] shining_finger 2017-04-09 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow, you're right--I had been assuming it was because the killer didn't want Zack to get the credit, but that doesn't matter for this week's motive, does it? So why bother healing her at all?

Unless... maybe it was an accident when they were trying to heal Seraphina instead? Or some kind of unintended side effect of healing Seraphina?
yourdreamismydream: <user name=Yamadori> (if we assign that super power)

[personal profile] yourdreamismydream 2017-04-09 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are all good possibilities. I guess it just depends on how the mirror operates? Unless I didn't catch it, I don't think the way it works was brought up at all... Just that it has the capability to heal, but not how it functions, right? Although if it's possible to heal the wrong person, that might be a reason was Nanami was healed at all if Seraphina was the intended target.
