☆ WEEK ZERO

Magical Girl Raising Project
Monday-Sunday, Week 0

20 REMAIN

Welcome to the Magical World of Dreams and Magic! No matter where you are or if you're from a world with technology or otherwise, you've managed to find yourself holding a cell phone with the Magical Girl Raising Project preinstalled - a game with a rather deceiving title - with no way to actually uninstall it. Whether you're doing this voluntarily or tapped the screen by accident due to not knowing much about technology, eventually a magical fairy appears out of the blue from your phone and finally opts to speak.

"My name is Fav, and you have been chosen, pon!" For what, exactly? He soon explains that you, too, can become a real magical girl or magical boy and obtain power and help others. "If you really want to become one, just press the button here, pon. It's that simple, pon."

There's just something about Fav's voice that's so compelling, and you're promised many good things to come if you just tap that screen... but if you wait too long, you'll find your body moving on its own to do the action, as if possessed.

Once that's all said and done, you will find yourself blacking out and the next time you open your eyes... there's a very unfamiliar ceiling in a very unfamiliar bed. The place you've woken up in is a rather lavish hotel room; modern, yet has a somewhat old-fashioned feeling to it. It's rather nice, at least in comparison to the view outside.

Welcome to Town A, your almost stereotypical dystopian city in your almost stereotypical world. If not for the fact that you can't really leave, due to the barriers that encase the edges of the town.

As of right now, the clocks read 9 AM in the morning - it's time to rise and shine, sleepyheads! And as if that wasn't enough, the voice of Fav will remind you of such to meet up in the downstairs area for a very special announcement, although he won't force people to meet with him, as it's definitely not an obligation. You could always avoid the announcement. But do you honestly think that's a good idea, given that you're in a whole different world?

[Wow, this admedistrative society is beginning to sound more and more like a bunch of dictators fused with abusively strict parents.]

Eh... It's more like you can, but people still freak out about getting fat or whatever. No moral bullshit, just... Society and personal shit.

[Shrug.] Junk food tends to be cheap, though.

So poor people are more likely to be able to afford it and that raises the stigma against them. It's circular. I've read about that.
zackthekiller: (Eh?)

[personal profile] zackthekiller 2017-03-17 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
You read a lot, don't you.

[More than he is able to, at least. Lucky.]

Mhm, I do. There's lots of knowledge in books that isn't common in my day anymore - it's not forbidden to look at, mostly, but it was more than useful for outlining just how truly dire our predicament was.

Uh huh...

[Zack glances away for a second, a bit unsure of himself. He'll just shake it off; Literacy in general is not the topic here.]

I can probably guess why some books are banned, though.

Can you?

[ She looks inviting now, clearly curious to hear his assessment of her world based on what she's told him. ]
zackthekiller: (Just a bit worried.)

[personal profile] zackthekiller 2017-03-17 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you said people won't admit their world sucks, didn't ya? Maybe banning some of the books would keep them from learning the truth?

[It's propaganda. He doesn't know the word for it, but he knows what it is.]

You know, the era of lifeism hasn't started that long ago, actually. Some of the old guys still remember what life used to be like at the beginning of the 21st century before one thing came to another. And by 'one thing' and 'another' I mean nuclear warfare and the resulting carnage and destruction. That's what people tried to escape from.

No, the books are banned because they'd be too emotionally traumatic. Because you don't want to upset the human soul anymore. People think they have left that age of barbarism in the past and they don't want to disturb their calm at any cost.
zackthekiller: (OH SHIT)

[personal profile] zackthekiller 2017-03-18 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[Wow, this future sucks. He really doesn't want to be around for it.]

So... The world pretty much ended and rebuilt on you?
imitationsoul: (𝓵𝓮𝓽'𝓼 𝓶𝓪𝓴𝓮 𝓪 𝓭𝓮𝓬𝓵𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸)

[personal profile] imitationsoul 2017-03-18 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly. In the not-long-ago past the world has seen the cruelty and barbarism human nature is capable of, so the old folks built a system based on suppressing all of it. "Turn your insides outside - don't think or feel anything disruptive. This world needs you, you're important"....

It's stupid, isn't it? I'm just me. There is nothing about me that belongs to anybody else, let alone is of vital importance to them.
zackthekiller: (Hate to piss in your cheerios but...)

[personal profile] zackthekiller 2017-03-20 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, plus it's fucking hard to be like that. There's always gonna be that one slacker who doesn't pull their weight, or that one guy who is pretty fucked up and can't help it.

[The way she keepa referring to the "Early 21st Century" like it was the dark ages was really making him wonder...]

By the way, I think I might be from that "early 21st century" you keep talking about. Haven't seen any nukes being thrown around, but... Yeah.

2019. That's when the Maelstrom starts.

But with a bit of luck, your world is different from mine entirely.
zackthekiller: (Just a bit worried.)

[personal profile] zackthekiller 2017-03-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Crap, that gives him about three years. Tops.]

I don't want to be like those crazy sandwich board guys shouting about how near the end is, so let's hope my world doesn't end up like that.
