Today is decisively different from yesterday; while music wakes up everyone, they're not immediately brought to the trial area. Not yet.

"Today, we will start off with room searches, pon. All of the suspects' rooms are now open, pon. Today is the last day for the trial of Eliza Owens, pon. So make sure you vote carefully. Abstaining is not allowed this week."

Yes. It seems consistent with someone attacking her from the side. As opposed to from behind or from the front.

Are you sure they attacked her from the side? With the way the naginata is shaped, I believe it's possible that they used the weapon while standing in front of her.

I suppose that is also possible by itself, however if the bruising came from being pushed into the wall a side attack seems more likely, don't you think?
