Monday-Sunday, Week 4

Today is quiet. Surprisingly so. There's no wake up call for the longest time, and everything seems to be almost scarily quiet. At least, until 12 PM, where the familiar voice of a female whom everyone will recognize as M chimes in.

"Hello, everybody. No need to come to the lobby or anything today for the announcement; this week will be a no murder week. The first reason is due to the Easter holiday. The second reason being because there's something wrong with Fav and this town. Meaning, I'll need you all to help me. You don't want to die because the town fell out of the sky, would you? Anyway, the task is pretty simple: find various colored eggs throughout the town. Easy. Certain eggs give you notes, some give you candy, but what I'm looking for is a body. There are eggs with body parts scattered all over. The eggs are small, but they can contain items that are bigger than itself. If you collect the body parts and reassemble them, this town will be safe. For the time being. If you do succeed, the lobby will become a ballroom on Easter Sunday, and I will provide proper clothes, music, and food for you all. Oh, and I fixed Zack's mess, in the dollhouse. That is all. And don't bother trying to answer back. I won't respond."

Of course, after her words are said and done, everyone who is alive will notice the slight static in some of the buildings, almost unstable. Sometimes you'll even find your hand going through things, occasionally. Even more so if you're in your magical form. Also, to note: apparently the network is down, even though transforming works just fine.

[ Miach laughs softly at that. ]

Who is to say that there isn't a world in which humanoid reptiles exist? That was a popular myth in the 21st century.

[ A brush of her thumb goes over Dahlia's hand here. ]

But you're right, of course, my blood is as warm or cold as yours, it's just a matter of how much of that gets to the surface.

[Dahlia shakes her head at that.]

You'd think a nuclear apocalypse would take dumb conspiracy theories with it.

[But trust people to keep stupid things like that alive, huh. They reach a more secluded corner of the dance floor, and Dahlia rests her free hand around Miach's neck.[

Well, impress me.

[ Miach takes this as her queue to take the lead position in the dance, even though her comparative lack of experience probably makes this a bad idea. She trusts her ability to improvise on this much at least.

Luckily, her confidence is rarely misplaced. She places her hand on Dahlia's waist and brings back the steps from her memory. The first few are awkward and then she's in the flow. It comes more easily to her when she's not listening to the music but instead focusing only on the rhythm in her own head.

Looking Dahlia in the eyes, she smiles. It appears that she is genuinely enjoying herself. ]

[Fortunately, Dahlia's expectations are low. Miach doesn't step on her feet and that's all that really matters to her. She doesn't avoid eye contact herself, but the fact that Miach seems to be pretty happy about her company is a little baffling... mostly because it's an expression she associates with happy-go-lucky idiots like Phoenix who don't have the slightest clue what her true feelings are. or fools like Iris who have a sickening amount of faith in her goodness. But she doesn't care to dwell on this oddity for much longer and luckily, Miach says something inane enough to distract her from it completely.]

No, I didn't. [It's not a completely dismissive tone, but it's not exactly impressed either.] Why was it called a waltz?

It's incredibly simplistic, really. "Walzen" used to detonate the act of spinning in old German. A simple name for a dance that was initially perceived as low class and obscene because of the amount of physical contact between dancing partners. Of course, it very quickly established itself in the upper circles anyway.

[ She chuckles a little. ]

This was back in the day when the idea of an ankle showing under a woman's moving dress was scandalous. With your long gown, you might be safe from even the indecency of that time though.

[Miach likes to talk. A lot. That isn't actually news to Dahlia, but the trait is still at an awkward precipice between annoying and something Dahlia has fully resigned herself to. Thoroughly tempted to accidentally on purpose step on Miach's foot, she decides one of them has to be the adult here and refrains from the childish bit of retaliation.]

I suspect I'm still showing too much arm and collar bone for their tastes, Miss Miach. Coupled with my red hair, I'm sure they'd have me burning at the stake.

[A beat.] I'm sure they'd have done similar things for your pale hair as well.

[ Miach laughs softly at that. ]

This was a bit after the high time of witch hunts, but fair enough.

[ She'll take mercy here though and stop infodumping in favour of a curiosity question as they move along to the music. ]

Do you dance often?

[hawthorned]

[Unabashedly:]

Only when there's someone worth dancing with.

[ Miach rises an eyebrow, though she never stops smiling. ]

Someone profitable then?

[ Though there is not too much profit to be had from her here and now, so that ought to count for something. ]

That's right.

[Dahlia smiles in return.]

Though I'd also dance with someone whose company was agreeable to pass the time.

[ This is.... kind of nice to hear. Actually. Which is weird. ]

We're quite in agreement on that.
