It's already been seven days, and things don't seem to change much... except for the fact that the task board has been updated. Of course, on Monday, everyone will once again be reminded of a rather hasty announcement at 9 AM in the morning. Of course, Fav won't wake up people who are too sleepy, but the words that the fairy seems to say make things fill up with a higher sense of urgency.

"Wake up, pon! There's a huge announcement that needs to be given, pon! It's very important that you come downstairs, pon."

Monday;

[There are bound to be some optimistic, hopeful voices in the wake of this. That hope is misguided, and One is quick to interject before anyone suggests something so foolish as 'waiting it out.']

For a single person to complete every assigned task within a single week, it would take approximately 35 weeks to reach the goal. For 20 people, a minimum of 700 weeks.

This is a generous estimate. You'd be too exhausted within a month.

[This announcement comes not long after Fav's, ignoring how cruel it seems to be so logical after hearing something so shocking. It seems she mathed the total out quite quickly.]

Tuesday;

[Now seems like an excellent time to move out of the hotel, doesn't it? It wouldn't be the first time she's holed herself just out of reach under the threat of death.

Or at least, it's better to make it look as though Room 15 is now vacant, the bed made and undisturbed. One herself can be found on the top floor of the second apartment complex, pushing defunct furniture out in the hall until it halfway blocks the path, then piecing together an apartment's worth of intact settings. Feel free to trip over the debris, snatch something for yourself, or confuse her for the spooky mansion ghost.]

That's what I was thinking, that it would take far too long to reach the amount of candies Fav wants. Whoever Fav's master is, they probably want us to commit murder. It's probably someone's sick and twisted game.

[He's not shocked, rather he truly is agreeing with One. Though she did calculate that really quickly-- he's pretty amazed by that.]

Correct. There isn't enough time to band together or to bolster our lower numbers.

Fav claims that equal distribution of candy will make it so "no one will have to die." We could all do that now. However... [There are a lot of 'however's, and each possibility slips briefly through her mind.] The conditions for victory will always be impossible to meet.

I think that's the point. His conditions are likely for us to murder one another or ensure someone has a 'lowest' amount of candy.

Which is also murder. [She confirmed it with Fav. Denying someone the resources necessary to leave is the same as slitting their throat. Is it a sin to stand by?]

I don't deny it. I also don't want to see what happens if two people tie for the lowest. I've got a bad feeling that both will be 'eliminated'. I'm rather sure we're not playing a game with a merciful 'master'.

Yes, I'm aware. [It's short, but she doesn't seem to have taken offense just yet.] But we should understand why it's "bullshit." Aren't you worried?

I can't blame anyone for thinking that way either. I'm not worried though. It wouldn't be the first time.

[Not the first time he's been suspected, wouldn't be the first time he's killed, or even the first time he's died. Not at all.]

For what it's worth, I'm not planning on taking the little shit up on his offer. I need to get back to Mexico, but I don't need to go that badly.

[If he didn't kill his way out of Houston, he's not killing his way out of here. Probably, anyway.]

[Mexico... That goes on the mental inventory of places she's never heard of before. Another foreigner.]

I'll keep that in mind. Last week, I wondered why someone like you would be brought here. [Well, she knows now.] I'm sure it would be easier for these villains if we gave into those suspicions. Look out for yourself.

And I'll be fine. I'm used to looking out for myself anyway, nobody else is gonna do it, right?

[ sorry for the shouting, one; dia's in shock and disbelief and she's certainly angry. ]

If it takes that long--it's as if they're trying to get us all to turn on one another!

I can hear you. There's no need to yell. [Her response is terse, whether from the stress of having to respond this new threat or from general irritation.]

We'll tear ourselves apart and they'll get what they want. If they are tyrants...that's how they work. They want us to turn on each other, and you already knew that.

[ SORRY AGAIN...she is not going to pipe down. not yet. ]

This is despicable! What are they gaining from doing any of this? Absolutely nothing!

[ at least, that's what she's assuming. for all they know, this could be some sort of sacrifice, a form of entertainment--who knows? ]

O-o-oh...I was thinking maybe we could share our candy. I don't mind not being a magical girl if that means no one has to die!

Fav said it was possible, and you would like to believe him, I know.

That's insane. Where does it leave us? With limited time and an impossible task. You'll never see those animals of yours again. Is that all right?

I-I do want to see them again. They're really important to me...but I don't want to get thst if it means someone has to die!

[She sounds really conflicted]

[Poor girl. One's accutely aware of her distress, but doesn't offer any comfort.]

If you stop being a magical girl, you will die.

Oh, two decades or so is nothing.

[Says the sun goddess as old as time itself. However, it doesn't seem like Tamamo is dismissing One's words.] But it doesn't matter if it would take one year or a thousand, really. Bringing us here, setting this up... it's obvious, isn't it?

[They want this killing game to happen.]

They have the power to bring us here, and even if we did collect those outrageous amounts of candies, who will force them to send us back?

[In contrast, One grew up very quickly; the time seems much longer than it might for someone else...even someone without the advantage of an extended lifespan like Tamamo-no-Mae.]

You are correct. Nothing can hold them to their word, and the goal they've set for us is impossible even for a small number of people. We don't have that much time to begin with.

[People just need to understand the stakes.]

[They took away their powers, gave them new ones, transported them to a new universe-- they're helpless in this situation, really.]

I wonder what the point of all this is. Perhaps there's a grand prize awaiting the last person alive.

[Won't be the first time that happened. Holy Grail, any wish you can ever think of making... or even boundless riches. A way to get home is a good enough incentive for some, too.]

Really though, plucking us out from our homes like this-- there must be more in store for so much effort put into us!

What's the difference between four and twenty? [Other than number, obviously, and that's clear in her tone. If the purpose of this game is elimination, four...is an unappealing number, and unlikely the finale one.]

Tuesday

[ It's not unusual to find others around in the apartment complexes, but it's very unusual to have them linger so long and move so much stuff. While Miach's living space is far enough from One's chosen one that the noise of the blockage being built is not that disruptive, she still finds herself curious.

So she'll go and check up on her new somewhat-neighbour. Barefooted she climbs over all the everything blocking the stairway and hall, waving a little. ]

The hotel doesn't seem so nice anymore now, does it?

[Did it ever? She's standing (actually, leaning on) the frame of an old table, which gives her some height, her feet positioned closely together.]

The hotel was always illusory. This place is more familiar to me.

[She does...live in a completely decimated holy city.]
