Monday-Sunday, Week 4

Today is quiet. Surprisingly so. There's no wake up call for the longest time, and everything seems to be almost scarily quiet. At least, until 12 PM, where the familiar voice of a female whom everyone will recognize as M chimes in.

"Hello, everybody. No need to come to the lobby or anything today for the announcement; this week will be a no murder week. The first reason is due to the Easter holiday. The second reason being because there's something wrong with Fav and this town. Meaning, I'll need you all to help me. You don't want to die because the town fell out of the sky, would you? Anyway, the task is pretty simple: find various colored eggs throughout the town. Easy. Certain eggs give you notes, some give you candy, but what I'm looking for is a body. There are eggs with body parts scattered all over. The eggs are small, but they can contain items that are bigger than itself. If you collect the body parts and reassemble them, this town will be safe. For the time being. If you do succeed, the lobby will become a ballroom on Easter Sunday, and I will provide proper clothes, music, and food for you all. Oh, and I fixed Zack's mess, in the dollhouse. That is all. And don't bother trying to answer back. I won't respond."

Of course, after her words are said and done, everyone who is alive will notice the slight static in some of the buildings, almost unstable. Sometimes you'll even find your hand going through things, occasionally. Even more so if you're in your magical form. Also, to note: apparently the network is down, even though transforming works just fine.

[Dahlia will be present at the meeting, carrying a small package wrapped in newspaper in her hands.]

I have an odd question to ask of everyone present. Is the name "Hinata Hajime" familiar to anyone?

"Hinata Hajime"? ... No, I don't think I know that name.

That sounds like a ridiculously common Japanese name. [ ZANGE..... ] But no, I've never heard of it before.

Nope. Never heard of the guy.

Never heard it before. Should I?

AFTER ALL THOSE ANSWERS... .. In retrospect I really did not think the initial tag through, orz

[Well after the chorus of "No's," Dahlia frowns and explains.]

Ah, you see, I found a key in the police station that opened up one of the rooms in the inn. The room was an elaborate puzzle that turned into a game of Hangman.... for some reason. [Don't ask her, she's still wtf-ing at the memory.]

In any case, solving that led me to this notebook. [She unwraps the newspaper, to show it to the people at the meeting.]

Judging from the contents, it appears that Hinata Hajime was a magical boy who was here on a previous run of the game... perhaps the same one as Miss Snow? [A beat.] But he described finding a way to end the game, but never documented what said method was.. and judging from the state of the notebook, may have perished soon after.

[Zack's not gonna ask about the puzzle.]

Oh... Uh... Does the notebook give you any other details, like what happened as time went on, or how many people's names Recette has to carve on the umbrella-vacuum thing?

[Sorry, Recette.]

[Ah right. Zack can't read the notebook for himself, even if she handed it to him.]

It's not too specific. unfortunately, I'll read it out loud for everyone. The first entry goes:

There has to be another way. I have to find it! No. I will! I can't believe that the only way to end it all is despair. I don't know what to believe. Was I really...? No. I can't think about that. Not right now.

The next entry goes:

The more I talk to-

[Frowning:] I can't make out his handwriting here.

-the more I have questions. How did this all get started? If I'm to stop it...there has to be more than one way.

Parts of the entry are covered in blood, so I can't read them, but the rest of this entry says:

I stopped a fight today but I don't think I can stop them all. I'm running out of time.

And finally the last entry goes:

...it wasn't a lie. None of it was lies. I really was... I can deal with that later. This is more important. I think I've been found out. No one will look me in the eye anymore. That's fine, I can't either. I have to keep going. I almost found another way to shut down the game. One that...can save what's left. If I can do this. At least this will all end.

[She pauses after reading.]

I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

[zackthekiller]

[Zack sort of half-listened to what tne notebook had to say. He was more focused on the blood.]

Huh... What's with all the blood? Did he die while he was writing in this book?

[Recette frowns.]

I guess I better add his name then... gosh... how many of these games HAVE there been?

[She sighs.]

I dunno who he is... but we should figure out how to ask the dead too. Or... It feels super invasive without permission, but I guess we could check their games too. Um, If they had one.

[hawthorned]

[While looking at Zack:] That's what I'm guessing.

[And speaking more generally:] I think that might be in our best interests. Whoever Hinata Hajime was, he's presumably deceased now. Although... all things considered, it might not be so informative when it comes to finding out how to end Miss M's game.

You may be right, Miss Recette, that trying to find a way to ask the dead would be more productive. After all, there's a chance that those who died in previous rounds of the game might also still be around, just as Miss One and the others appear to be.

I know that Edna and Zack found a notebook a while ago... maybe we should go take a look at it and see if Hinata's name is in there?

[Recette bites her lip lightly.]

If his name isn't in there, we can probably guess there have been two of these before.

[This game is forcing her to use her brain like this. Getting the cogs turning.]

I guess we should look at the laptop too? I mean, was anything on it?

[zackthekiller]

[Guess who overheard his name and laptop used in the same sentence.]

Wait, what about a laptop?

[hawthorned]

[Well hi there, Zack.]

Ah, we're wondering about the laptop that was found last week. I don't know too much about it, actually....

[buylowsellhigh]

Do you think we can look at it Zack? It might be important.

[zackthekiller]

Oh, yeah. That.

I thought Edna was looking at that?

If she doesn't have it, it should be in room 21.

[hawthorned]

It might be worth going to take a look anyway. She might have put it back when she was finished with it.

[buylowsellhigh]

Okayos then, let's go!

[Recette starts to leave the room and hesitates to look back at Slinky sulking under the table.... she'll be fine. Just needs time to process. And after a moment continues walking to Room 21. Follow?]

[zackthekiller]

[Yeah, don't worry. Dragon will keep her company.]

[Zack's in front of the group, with Crown choosing to trail behind him. When they get to Room 21, Zack tries the door to make sure he doesn't have to break it down it's not locked.]

[hawthorned]

[As the doors don't re-lock, it opens with ease which is a shame because door busting action would have been better.]

Oh, it's open.

[She hasn't been inside this one before, so she'll wait and see if either one of them have a reaction. Who knows? Maybe stuff's been moved around and such.]

[zackthekiller]

[So it is.]

Oh, good. Saves us some trouble.

[buylowsellhigh]

[Recette's used to Zack breaking stuff, so she'd not bat an eye at that tbh Recette looks around for the laptop and smiles when she sees it. She goes over to it... and remembers she has no idea how to operate one. One of you might wanna intervene before she tries pressing all the buttons]

[theotherother]

[Guess who's only just now realizing how much he missed out on last week by brooding in various corners of the map? This guy.]

Christ.

[He doesn't even know what else to say to that.]

[That's pretty much all that has to be said tbf.]

It's a little depressing, isn't it.

I'd say more than a little, but yeah.
